Education is not merely about degrees, but a way of life. With this spirit, Shri Guru Ram Rai University (SGRRU) launched the orientation program for the 2025 academic session on Monday, welcoming fresh entrants with new hopes, resolutions, and dreams. Students took an oath to play a meaningful role in the progress of society and the nation. The message of the ceremony was clear: “Every beginning is the first step towards a brighter tomorrow.”
The two-day orientation program (August 18–19, 2025) witnessed enthusiastic participation from students admitted across nine schools of the university. Sending his blessings, University President Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj said, “Education is meaningful only when it inspires character-building and service to society.” He wished all students a bright and successful future.
The inaugural session, held at the auditorium of Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences, began with the traditional lighting of the lamp by Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Kumud Saklani, Registrar Dr. Lokesh Gambhir, and Dean of Student Welfare Prof. (Dr.) Malvika Kandpal.
The orientation was organized for new entrants from the School of Paramedical & Allied Health Sciences, School of Basic & Applied Sciences, School of Management & Commerce Studies, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Engineering & Technology, School of Education, School of Agricultural Sciences, School of Yogic Science & Naturopathy, and School of Humanities & Social Sciences.
Delivering an inspiring address, Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Saklani motivated the students with the message: “There are no shortcuts to success. If your goals are great, your efforts too must be great. Dream big and strive continuously to achieve them. Academic achievements alone do not define you; human values and principles earn respect in society.” She urged students to utilize their time at the university for character development, leadership, and service to society, emphasizing that true education shapes not only competent professionals but also responsible citizens.
A special session on stress management and coping with academic pressure was conducted by Prof. Dr. Shobhit Garg, Head of the Department of Psychiatry, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, and Chairperson of the Counseling Committee. Students were also introduced to the university through a 17-minute video presentation on SGRR Educational Mission and SGRR University.
The orientation program also featured addresses by University Coordinator Dr. R.P. Singh and Controller of Examinations Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Sharma Pokhriyal, who guided students on examinations, results, and degree-related processes.
The cultural segment of the event showcased energetic performances by senior students, including a yoga-based dance, dance-drama, and vibrant musical performances on Bollywood, Garhwali, Punjabi, and Nepali songs.
The program was compered by Dr. Shreya Kotnala, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. (Dr.) Malvika Kandpal, followed by the National Anthem.
Present on the occasion were IQAC Director Prof. (Dr.) Sonia Gambhir, deans, heads of departments, faculty members, and hundreds of students, making the ceremony a grand success.
