OVERVIEW

Growing interdisciplinary studies worldwide is a consequence of fast computing devices and easy access to knowledge and information through internet. Information technology has emerged as a new field in this era.

The Department of Computer Science under the School of Engineering & Technology at SGRR University has been established to prepare competent IT professionals with relevant education, education, skills and training. The department provides a flexible academic program to study the emerging disciplines of IT sector. It offers undergraduate program in Computer Applications and Information Technology and postgraduate program in Computer Applications. The students acquire knowledge of computer and programming. Logic oriented environment in IT and knowledge of advanced IT applications in different business sectors is provided. The department has Software Development Cell (SDC), responsible for development of software for Live Projects, solely managed by students. It prepares students for a computer-oriented career to keep up with the rapid advancement of technology.

INFRASTRUCTURE

1. Computer Labs equipped with original softwares.
2. All computer labs have original licensed Seqrite Endpoint Security antivirus 17 installed which automatically updates itself continuously from Symantec Corp Server.
3. Digital Electronics Lab to explore a wide variety of electronic concepts simply by sticking components into the breadboard useful in building and testing circuits when learning the subject.
4. Microprocessor Lab to give an understanding of INTEL 8085 Microprocessor architecture, assembly language programming and interfacing of different peripherals of 8085 Microprocessor.

ACHIEVEMENTS

1. Many companies such as Accenture, Wipro, Spice and Cynotek technologies conducted placement drive on campus.
2. Most of BCA/B.Sc. (IT) students got selected in Accenture, TCS, Spice, Cynotech & Bassware etc.
3. Department has organized several workshops and guest lectures on various topics such as PHP and MySQL, Android and an IEEE workshop on online access of the journal.
4. Regular personality development programs and sessions conducted for MCA/BCA/B.Sc.(IT) students.
5. A bi-annual newsletter ‘TECHTIMES’ is published covering recent happenings of Tech World, campus briefs etc.
