The botany department is well equipped to impart undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and research in botany. The department is known for its outstanding research activities particularly in the field of Ecology and Conservation, Taxonomy, Mycology and Plant Pathology, Microbiology and other thrust areas of Plant Sciences. Besides these, the department is also providing quality education through specialization courses at PG level in different areas viz., Biodiversity and Conservation, Seed Pathology, Plant Health Management, Biotechnology, Mycology and Plant Pathology, Plant Genetic Resources.

A post graduate degree holder in botany makes him/her eligible for choosing a career in teaching or to take up research work in any well-known university. Ans. Students will be admitted over and above the approved intake in a course up to a maximum of 25-30 of the approved intake in each course.

Q.4 What are the eligibility requirements for admission?

Ans. A prospective student has to fulfill the eligibility conditions, including the required qualifying degree and marks/grades, as prescribed for Indian students. These conditions can be found in the prospectus which is available on the University website. In case a student's parent University does not have a program which is prescribed as minimum eligibility condition, equivalent program may be considered. In this respect the Admissions Committee's decision is final.

Ans. Students may apply for admission during mid July of the year. However, the deadline for being considered for any academic year (which generally begins in mid-July) is April 1 of that year. The decision of Admissions Committee will be intimated to the candidate by May 31.
